Like I said on my main page, I'm a first year chemical engineering Ph.D graduate student at UCSB Ram Seshadri and Brad Chmelka (group pages for Ram's and Brad's groups).

In 2009, I obtained my B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado. While there, I worked in Dendy Sloan's group researching the adhesion forces of micron-sized hydrate particles. I also worked at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) investigating the properties of doped oxide barrier layers for flexible electronics (such as OLED screens and flexible solar cells). Before that, I went to high school and grew up in Elkhorn, Nebraska.

Outside of school and research, I enjoy outdoorsy things and making music. I play piano, drums and percussion, and trumpet, and like to play a variety of music. On piano, I like playing classical (mainly romantic period), jazz, and latin jazz. On drums I like to play jazz, latin, rock, and metal. I'm not too great at trumpet, but I can play some jazz on that. As far as outdoorsy stuff, I bike and mountain bike a lot, love to snowboard, and enjoy hiking, climbing, and mountaineering. Mountains are one of my favorite places to be. The picture below is of me on top of Tucker Mountain at Copper Mountain in the Colorado Rockies. The one directly below that is of me at the playgrounds (click the link for the spot--zoom in to see the boulder field) above Goleta.
